Magnificat a Ministry to Catholic Women – contact: Mary Anne Dagli 303-885-6882
This ministry seeks to bring the Holy Spirit into the life of women. We encourage holiness and evangelization by putting on a meal and inviting a guest speaker who will tell her story of how God is working in her life and how He has called her forth and is giving her the graces He wants her to have to teach people what He wants us to know.
Serra Club of SW Denver contact: Bob Bucheit 303-989-0145 (see website www.serraus.org)
Serra takes its name from Blessed Junipero Serra, the tireless 18th-century missionary priest, who spread the Good News in Spain, Mexico, and California.
Serra has three purposes. One is to foster new vocations to the ministerial priesthood and to all consecrated religious life in the Catholic Church. Another is to support and affirm existing religious vocations in the Catholic Church. In addition, Serra seeks to further Catholicism by encouraging its members, in fellowship, through education, to fulfill their Christian vocation to service.
Some of our activities include holding vocations awareness programs at Catholic schools and CCD Classes and Focus 11 for 5th graders. We solicit contributions for emergency needs of men and women in religious formation so that no vocation is lost because of financial hardship. Our group attends Mass at local parishes followed by a meal with the pastor and other religious in the parish to affirm and encourage their vocations.
Our club meets on the first and third Friday of each month at a 7:30 a.m. breakfast in the Saint Agnes Center of Holy Name Church, 3290 W. Milan.
Membership is open to all practicing Catholic laymen and laywomen and those ordained to the permanent deaconate.
